Millbrook Rotary Club Supports Local Students with School Supply Drive
The Millbrook Rotary Club is proud to continue our long-standing tradition of donating school supplies to students in the Millbrook and Webatuck school districts.
This year’s efforts came together thanks to the contributions of members Christa Ploschke, Jan Miller, Lynn Grainger, Elizabeth and Mark Vila, working hard to coordinate and deliver supplies on behalf of our club. Together, their work ensured that local students could start the school year equipped with the tools they need.
We are also deeply grateful to Reardon Briggs, Tribute Garden, and Rotary District 7210, for their support in making this annual project a success. Through service and collaboration, we remain committed to helping our community’s students thrive.
Our Rotary Day of Service was extra special thanks to the incredible students and club advisors from Alden Place Kindness Club and Middle School Jr. Interact. Together, we filled Care Bags with essentials items like hand soap, body wash, dish detergent, toothpaste, and toothbrushes, and love, decorating them with beautiful drawings and heartfelt messages.
Community, creativity, and compassion in action!

3rd Grade Dictionaries

Millbrook Rotary Club's Dictionary Project is a heartwarming annual tradition, fostering literacy among local third-grade students.
During the latest visit to Alden Place Elementary School, our members distributed brand-new dictionaries to each eager student, continuing a 15-year tradition across Millbrook Central School District, Dutchess Day School, and Upton Lake Christian Academy. The global initiative aims to empower young minds with personal dictionaries.
Rotarians shared the club's commitment to literacy, gifting each student a dictionary and sparking excitement for words. Teachers, like Jason Zmudosky, expressed gratitude, noting the tangible impact on students' vocabulary exploration. Betty Thurst, a dedicated Rotarian with over a decade of involvement in this project, highlighted the joy of witnessing students' enthusiasm for a tangible learning tool. As third-grader Angelina Nuculovic joyfully exclaimed, "I already looked up the word 'volunteer!'"
This cherished project reflects our dedication to education, fostering a love for words in the hearts of our community's future leaders.
